KUDDEVEE
All this talk about human animals and barbarism can make you forget how vulnerable we are. Without some technology we would be very wet, cold and hungry barbarians. For us humans, technology has always been a means of survival for us all, it is such a shame that creativity is now becoming the privilege of a whitecoated class of professional thinkers. Professionals who can only do their work if there’s money to be made with their inventions. Their work first serves the banks and investors, then the rest of the human race are forced to use a technology they can’t control. A good example of this are genetically altered seeds that are resistant against insecticides of the same company. This way the company can make a double profit: sell the seed and the insecticide. Every year the farmers have to come back for more seeds because the genetically altered plants are sterile. Farmers are turned into parts of an unstable agrocultural machine, they are turned into cattle, ready to be slaughtered when the Market dictates it.
lyrics
02. Kuddevee
Over ieder ander mens
Vaar blind!
Op de laborant
Betaal de fabrikant
Voor resistent gewas
Voor een steriele plant
Vaar blind!
Vertrouw op hogerhand
Als een onnozel schaap
Als dom en volgzaam kuddevee
Dom en volgzaam kuddevee
TRANSLATION
Kuddevee / Cattle
Who isn’t a vulnerable human being, nowhere in his element
Unprotected and never used to the nature that surrounds him
Famine and floods, there’s a lot of danger
For every man, a vulnerable man, lost in an hostile land
Cunningly the species conquers
Yet that barren and rough land
A hunger for knowledge is driving them on
Dividing them and chasing them
And so the creating man triumphs
A creative and autonomous man
Who rules in a white coat
Over every other human being
Sail blindly
Trust the laboratory worker
Pay the manufacturer
For resistant crops
For a sterile plant
Sail blindly
Trust the autorities
Like a simple sheep
Like stupid and docile cattle
