HET BLOED KRUIPT
Off course there are some people who actually like to see humans as useful parts of a machine. Their machine to be more specific. To make the machine better and more efficient, procreation must be a selective affair: only the healthy, nice and obedient ones can have a baby (or ten). Written down so simple this idea seems a nightmare from the past or some strange science fiction fantasy. But ask yourself: how often have you heard debates about the cost of caring for disabeled or older people? Is better healthcare for useful, working people really totally unheard of? In 1997, so just 8 years ago, the influential Princeton geneticist Lee M. Silver published a book: Remaking Eden: cloning and beyond in a brave new world. In this book he claimed that it was only natural for the elite to ‘improve’ their children genetically. After all they also send their kids to an expensive private school. Silver predicted a future of a genetically enhanced elite, the Genrich, served by the other 90%: natural humans. Those two kinds of humans would become two different species, the natural humans would be treated like chimpansees. I think ‘improving’ people like this won’t be so easy as Silver hopes, but still books like his serve a smelly purpose: all inequality is explained by genetics, the poor just deserve to be poor and the rich are the representatives of Science on earth. Where did we hear that story before?!
lyrics
03. Het Bloed Kruipt
En het bloed kruipt, kruipt waar het niet kan gaan
Zonder selectie neukt het volk er maar op los
Hun kind al bij voorbaat mislukt
Onaangepast
Aan deze drukke tijd
Een kind dat moeilijk leert
Alleen maar geld verteert
Een last die op iedereen drukt
Maar nog het meest op de elite, verstoord dat hun machine
Niet meer lekker loopt
En zo groeit er
Perverse hoop
Op een mens als kneedbaar deel
Gemaakt voor het geheel
Een mens naar wens
Een kind slechts voor de stamboekmens
Goed gecontroleerd
Een embryo met APK
Zodat het bloed niet meer kruipt
Kruipt waar het niet mag gaan
Waar het niet mag gaan
Kruipt! Waar het niet mag gaan
Kruipt! Waar het niet mag gaan
TRANSLATION
Het Bloed Kruipt / Blood Is Creeping
And blood is creeping, creeping where it can’t go
Without selection people are fucking as much as they want
Their child is a failure from the start
Adjusted badly to our busy times
A child that has difficulty learning
And is only using money
A burden that is troubling everybody
But most of all the elite, angry that their machine, isn’t working properly anymore
And so a perverse hope is growing
For a man as an adjustable part
Made for the whole
A man on demand
A child just for purebred humans
Controlled well
An embryo that is checked completely
So the blood can’t creep anymore
Creep where it can’t go
Where it can’t go
Creeps! Where it can’t go
Creeps! Where it can’t go
